Lyft, the no. 2 ride-hailing firm in the U.S., is speeding up. Its revenue grew 28% in the first quarter, a notable acceleration on last year, while the company also generated free cash flow of $127.1 million.

The results suggest that changes made by CEO David Risher, who took the reins of Lyft last year from its co founders, are paying off. Aside from cutting staff, Risher also has introduced a program to make it easier for women to find cars driven by other women, designed to make women feel more comfortable taking rides.
